The Most Beautiful Beaches in Lassi

Kefalonia is the largest of the Greek Ionian islands with a stunning rugged landscape and is home to 36 beautiful beaches. Genuinely the beaches are some of the most beautiful that I have ever seen. They rival those in Asia, the Caribbean and Australia in my opinion! The movie, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin was filmed in Kefalonia because of the stunning scenery. I think that the views and beaches are the reason why the wonderful Loggerhead turtles return to Kefalonia year after year too! Lassi in Kefalonia is home to the most stunning beaches. Read on to find out which are the best beaches in Lassi.

A bit like a turtle, I too have now returned to Kefalonia twice and plan to go back many times in the future. The beaches are the main reason I can’t stay away! We have stayed in Lassi both times we’ve visited. We hired a car to travel around the island we found that the best beaches were in Lassi. It’s a short 15-minute taxi ride from the airport and the beaches are all a short walk from the main strip. We did find 3 beaches in Lassi that we all loved and we think that you will love them too!

Makris Gialos

If you google beaches in Kefalonia, the chances are that you will come across Makris Gialos Beach. It’s named as one of the best on many sites and in many guide books and it is warranted! A beautiful golden sandy beach with crystal clear water that gently shelves out making it perfect for your family trip.

The section I am referring to now is right at the bottom of the staircase café steps. Heading from the mean road in Lassi there are signs for Makris Gialos taverna. Follow the signs and then just before the taverna turn left and you will reach the staircase café.

The steps there take you down to this lovely stretch of sand and it’s quite quiet with only a few rows of beds on the beach so it’s worth heading down earlier or late in the afternoon to grab one. 2 beds are €9 here for the day and refreshments are available at the top of the steps. The Staircase café and Makris Gialos Taverna are both great options for lunch. Both have good quality food, cold drinks and stunning views!

Costa Costa Beach– the most photographed of all the beaches in Lassi

Heading a little further along the beach you can’t miss Costa Costa beach. Along the main road, it’s signposted with orange boards and flags and plenty of parking is available nearby if you have hired a car. Still technically Makris Gialos beach, its stunningly clear water and golden sand is the main pull. This section of the beach is much wider with around 6 or 7 rows of sunbeds and a restaurant at the back plus changing rooms, toilets and showers!

The back row of sunbeds are all Bali beds and honestly, the modern feel is so lush. It certainly feels very different to the other section 200 meters away! The restaurant is quite modern and less traditional but the food is really good. We’ve had our fair share of doughnuts and frappes there in the morning on our way to the sunbeds!

The sunbeds themselves are more luxurious with thick cushions making it a great place to spend the entire day! It’s not particularly a quiet beach but it’s not rowdy, just the right amount of atmosphere if you ask me. Chilled-out music is played from the restaurant perfectly accompanied by the sound of the waves. There’s a lifeguard here too and to make life easy waiters walk around ready to take food and drink orders and bring them directly to your sunbed (or Bali bed if you prefer)!

How much does it cost to stay at Costa Costa?

The beds here are a little more expensive, I can’t remember exactly how much and I tried to contact the restaurant to ask for prices but had no luck so this is only an approximate from memory, I think the first row of beds (closest to the sea) was around €12 for 2 beds and a parasol, the rows further back were €10 and the Bali beds around €25 but these were like the equivalent of having 4 beds and are closer to the food and music!

We adore Costa Costa beach, you’ll love it with the kids and tbh I think our kids love it more than us but it’s great to have a lifeguard there as an added reassurance so you can feel a little more relaxed and enjoy your drink while they play.

Paliostafida one of my favourite beaches in Lassi

This is one we stumbled on almost by accident. A stunner of a beach. If you head along the main strip in the direction of Argostoli and turn toward the beach when you are opposite Tanu’s restaurant. Follow the path down there a little way and take the first turn left, follow it past Hotel Lorenzo, and keep going until you reach Sea View Village, it’s the beach you can see from here! It’s very hard to explain and honestly not the easiest beach to find or get to be worth the effort.

You are rewarded by this small bay with the most gently shelving waters that are crystal clear and gorgeous clean, golden sand. It’s a small beach with only a couple of rows of sunbeds and a small but perfectly formed café bar serving soft and alcoholic drinks, ice creams and snacks such as hot dogs and fries. It’s perfect for the kids. You can see them in the cove from your sunbed, whichever sunbed you are on.

It’s not too quiet but the bar plays music so it doesn’t feel uncomfortable at all. Well worth getting there early and the adventure it takes to get there the first time you find it. Don’t miss this beach though! Sunbeds here last summer (2020) were €8 for 2 beds and a parasol, bargain!

So there you have it, my favourite beaches in Lassi, perfect for when you go with the family! Have you been before? Which is your favourite beach? let me know in the comments! Let’s hope Greece is soon on the Green travel list and we can get to go out and visit soon!

Have a great rest of your day, thank you so much for reading and recommending it!
