Everything is getting increasingly expensive, this cost of living crisis has been going on for too long! Budgeting and side hustling are the things keeping me going, you know I am always going to find a way to go on holiday. I’ve put a list together of the top 10 easy side hustles UK edition!

Sell what you don’t need

Sounds simple, and it really is. The first and probably easiest of the side hustles UK is to just sell your rubbish. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure and all that! Find the right platform for the item that you’re selling. I tend to use Vinted for clothes, shoes and the kid’s soft toys… basically, anything that can be put in a postal bag easily enough. For anything large, I do use Facebook Marketplace quite often. I just find it makes life easier and saves on the risk of anything getting damaged in the post.

Surveys and Market Research

Spending a little time daily filling in a few surveys can sound mount up. There are loads of sites and apps out there. I like using AttaPoll, it’s an app for both Apple and Android with various surveys available each day. If you sign up with my referral code PEEEY you will get 40p in your pot just for signing up. YouGov is another one, it does take longer to cash out but you are less likely to get screened out of these surveys.

Playing games

Yes, you can earn some pocket money just by playing games on your phone. There are a few different apps and sites out there. Swagbucks is a big favourite of mine, not only can you make money from games on here but there are also surveys and the opportunity to scan receipts to earn money too. Mistplay has earned me quite a few vouchers too, and as someone who likes playing games on my phone, this is like being paid for my downtime. What’s not to like about this?!

Scanning receipts

Lots of sites out there will give you money for scanning receipts. It’s as easy as taking a photo on your phone. I have been using Amazon Shopper Panel for just over a year now and consistently earn between £7 and £10 a month in Amazon vouchers. One of my favourite Blogs – Skint Dad – Has a great list of receipt-scanning apps.

Pet Sitting

If you’ve got pets and go on holiday, you will likely have looked into pet sitting at some point. Why not become the pet sitter when you aren’t away? If you love animals, this is a great option to get into. There are lots of websites out there where that you can sign up to.

You can choose whether you are comfortable with cats or dogs and which size dogs. You can even choose if you want to look after small, medium or large dogs at your house or at their house. It’s not just limited to cats and dogs. People are looking for someone to look after rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, tropical animals… you name it, people need someone to look after them.

Dog Walking

One of the nicest side hustles UK is dog walking. If you are an experienced dog walker – and by experienced I mean have walked dogs before – you can walk any dog. Like the pet sitting, the sites let you specify which dogs you are comfortable with. There are currently no qualifications needed to set up as a dog walker. So if you are comfortable you can advertise now.

Cashback

Cashback sites are by far the easiest of the side hustles UK. If you are shopping online there’s probably a cashback site out there that can earn you a couple of quid back. You can earn cashback on loads of things like renewing your car or house insurance, or even buying a mobile phone. Top Cashback, Quidco and Swagbucks are all great, and between them, you will likely find the store you are buying from. It’s not quick money though, you may have to wait sometimes up to 20 weeks but once it gets paid out it’s a nice little bonus. And it costs you nothing extra. Win, win!

Make things

If you are in the slightest bit creative, use your spare time to make some money. Like making bracelets? Make some and sell them on Etsy. How are painting? Sewing? Clay crafts? Sculpting? knitting? You name it, if you can make it well, people will probably buy it. Etsy is a great way to sell hand-crafted items. You can set up an Etsy store fairly easily and get selling. You could even look into craft markets, rent a table and spend your spare time creating stock ready to sell.

Write a Blog

Again, not a get-rich-quick scheme at all. But if you have a passion, why not share that passion with the world? There are lots of web hosts out there where you can own your site and therefore make money. Money can be made from ads, affiliate schemes and selling your own items. Lots of great sites are out there to help you to figure out the basics. Neil Patel and ahrefs are sites I tend to check often to keep one eye on what’s new and what’s changed. YouTube, x (formally Twitter) Facebook and LinkedIn all have lots of helpful figures.

Rent Your Parking Space

If you live in a city or near a venue, you may be able to make some money by renting your parking space. Sites like Yourparkingspace.co.uk and Justpark.com give you the chance to rent your drive for those looking for somewhere to park. Personally, I have used these sites to find a parking space when we’ve been to Wembley and Manchester events. It’s gaining popularity all the time. If you are near to a venue or near to good public transport links, this could be the one for you.

MoneySavingExpert is a great site to get some more ideas, Martin is also great at offering advice on how to make sure you keep it legal. remember that you may have to pay tax once you earn a certain amount too, so check this out and don’t get into trouble.
